As temperatures rise surrounding the West Coast , possibly breaking records across Florida, it’s a different story more north in Alaska . All beacuse of a combination of dangerously low settings and bitter winds, bone-chilling weather has overtaken the Last Frontier this week.
Bettles , Alaska, located in my north-central part of the state, the low temperature of 51 stages below zero Fahrenheit Sun. morning, well below the mean of 15 below hardly anything F this time of year. During the day Saturday, the afternoon temperature rarely peaked at 25 down further zero F. Prudhoe Bay , situated on the state’s northeast coast, had similar problems with a morning low pertaining to 47 below zero plus a daytime high of 27 anything less than zero, both well under the average low of 7 below zero F.
On From monday morning, the remote western town of Deadhorse reached 50 below hone, with winds making it really feel as low as 88 below 0 %. Believe it or not, that’s not the most frigid it’s ever felt inside Deadhorse. It felt like one hundred and one below zero on By. 28, 1989.
Meanwhile, Nuiqsut bang an actual temperature of 53 below zero. Howard Pass , home to some of the state’s some extreme weather , great a wind chill amongst 91 below zero, several degrees away from the town’s unofficial record wind chill using 100 below zero Farrenheit, set in 2014.

“The intense cold is confined to the northern organ of the state across the Brooks Line and the North Slope, type said AccuWeather senior meteorologist Dan Pydynowski.

“Extreme freezing will continue Tuesday and as a consequence Wednesday in Utqiagvik having highs around 25 following zero which is 20 [degrees] below common for this time of year, ” announced Pydynowski, adding that levels will still not be at any place near record levels.
